A piece inspired by one of my inspirations, Pieter Bruegel de Oude, a Netherlandic painter from the 16th century. This is the specific painting I based it off of zonnejaar.antrovista.com/pags/…
I love the characters he portrays and tried to kind of make my own version, you might recognize some of them. The story behind the painting is quite fascinating as well, and worth looking into if you're interested.
The characters were all drawn seperately on paper and finished off with watercolor, and so were the houses. The only digital aspect to this piece is the ground they stand on and the aquamarine sky.
This started off as an animation project, the characters have seperate arms and legs that were supposed to be able to move at some point. But I decided that I preferred it to be a stand still piece, like an actual painting.
