> the borders I added via paint (to make it presentable, at least)

I'm sorry, I'm not able to make a fine and detailed background anymore ('running out of time and 'got too tired and sleepy) well, another sleepless night,but once you feel that sense of accomplishment after seeing the finished work, it's all worth it...^^

Gantuan: The Great Sea Witch

HOW I CAME UP WITH THIS CHARACTER:

Halloween creatures do not only exist on land but also in the sea!LOl!...When I think of the sea, various colorful things pop of my mind: fishes, anemones, sea weeds, sea urchins, shells/clams, coral polyps, coral skeletons, shark teeth,etc. So, all of what I could think of that I may find suitable for the character were incorporated to the design.As you can cee, he has a pair of ears like a sea urchin, armor of weeds,shark teeth, beaded tiny shells, corals and a giant spiky shell on his left hand (which he also uses as container). Even the accessories on his tail belong to the sea. All these I got from my memories about the sea. Even his creepy giant pet fish (his name is Gio, btw) ---we had one like that before in our little pond at home. The one I've drawn is scary, gigantic and a bit modified, too.

Well, yeah, at least, one of the three is a male (apart from Catamina and Chrisoleah). I wanted it too be unique as as possible, like "he's not your ordinary witch" so I thought of a sea witch. I've always been fascinated by sea creatures, too. In fact, I have always dreamed of living near the sea (though it will just be a dream, 'have no choice but to stay in an ever-polluted city). What I love drawing the most here is the staff- oh, boy, I just played with curves and how I love the result.

> General Description:

The great witch of the sea lurks in deep sea waters, collecting sea herbs and weeds for medicine, witchcraft and potions. Yep, you heard it, he makes potions, too like any other witch. He surfaces once a month and stays at a dark cave by the sea (well of course, he can't mix potions underwater ^^)...He is also seen surfacing beneath rocky cliffs by the sea and in lagoons. It is said that if you shout his name 10 times on a cliff by the sea at 12 midnight, the sea water would glow as he summons infinite number of dinoflagellates, and command them to use bioluminescence, so that you will know of his presence...

> the Name: GANTUAN (pronounced as GAHN-TOO-AN, the stress is on the second syllable ^^). How I came up with the name is a bit funny. Before drawing this character, the word "gargantuan" was lingering in my mind. So yeah, I removed the first three letters to come up with GANTUAN...XD

So, there he is! ^^

this is a contest entry for the Design a Halloween Character Contest: #Team Witches..^^
win or lose, I would still be very happy (as I am now) that I got the chance to create this character and let the world know of him. XD I never really paid attention to contest announcements ever before (due to hectic work sched) except last month, Lol! (i'm on leave anyway!) contests are really exciting and for me, they are motivations to create more artworks! they serve as a challenges as well, so that you can improve your skills ( esp if the deadline is near, you need to work out your mind to come up with everything, draw as swiftly as possible and at the same time, being careful not to mess up the details)
