Description Commission! I am pretty proud of this one, I have been studying a bit and decided to experiment with VALUE and DETAIL Instead of working zoomed out 30% I went in like really far to do fine details. And as far as colouring went, I made sure my shadows and highlights were far away in terms of value. What do you all think?

You can, but you need to practice to unlock the ability! I wasn't nearly as good a year ago, look at my first uploads compared to now All you need is to practice and use deviantart tutorials~

It's definitely an improvement to before and it looks really neat^^
The biggest problem in my eyes is that you don't have a lot of variation in the amount of details you put into the picture so there is no real focal point (the lightning setup adds a bit to this problem).
But this would be quite easy to solve by simply reducing the contrast in the parts that lead the eye out of the picture. (could look like this )
I hope you don't mind that I played a bit around with your image, if you do just say so. I just do this to make sure that I'm not talking nonsense in my comments and in the hope that it.Β

Otherwise the details look really good and I still like your really individual style. Especially the eyes and the face in general look great and the hair looks also a lot better than in some of your previous images.

I am studying your example picture to see the differences. Can I say I think this is the coolest thing in the history of cool ever? You are so awesome! You are really helping me out! I wish more people could show me what to do to make my work better. So, I see you took some emphasis out of the hair strands to focus the detail on the face. It really does look better, I like it! One thing though is, I keep having people say stuff like "You put so much detail into the face and not enough on the rest of the picture" And so that starts to confuse me.. how do I add detail without adding emphasis to that part? I still have a loooong way to go it seems. I will study the example picture you gave to see how I can improve. Thank you again!! You're so amazing.

It's great to see such a euphoric response to my comment and I'm glad if I could help you a bit :3
I actually didn't change a lot, I just took a big soft brush with the darkest/lightest colour in the area I was in and painted lightly over the areas which should pop out less.
This adds a few gradients and to the shading and makes the whole image look a bit softer.
Another way to remove emphasis of a part of the picture would be with your light setup (eg. you could simply place the lights so that those parts are in the shadows and so on).
Oh and I think you're already on the right track with the amount details you add (it actually looks pretty awesome in picture and the detailed hair adds to the doll like look) and you have quite a few pictures with a really nice light setup that leads ones eye to the main focal points^^.

I am going to study more. Softness and emphasis... still so much to learn to create an appealing picture. Art is hard but so rewarding, truly. You're such a great person by the way! β™‘

Well of course it's hard but I don't think it would be nearly as fun if it wasn't^^
And thank you.

Oh wow, I can really see the effect of the tiny details in the whole picture. It just looks, wow, very impressive!! Β  I'm in love with the whole piece, this is something I'd put up on my wall in a heartbeat.. Just.. wow!! Really do love the skin/shading, she looks very real. The hair too is extra luxurious, I can tell you took some time with the strands, it really shows!! Incredible volume and colour. <3

Yes I took a lot of time with the hair, for sure! I am always so lazy with my brush strokes. I was very calm and took my time this time.

Aww I wouldn't say that you're lazy too much. Β  heheΒ Β Β  I'll agree that your other hairs are a bit more simpler in their strokes, but I do love how you give each character their own style and sometimes motion/action with the hair. :3

I think it really shows!! The values especially really show through, it looks like she's in a changing room with really bright lights shining on her. Everything looks really good and it looks like you paid a lot of attention to most areas too - I really like the folds on her shirt and her collarbone is very nicely defined. I love how you do hair normally, but it looks like you really went to town on it in this one, it's absolutely gorgeous!! Whatever you studied paid off pretty much instantly I think, you did a fantastic job with this one!

The hair looks so good too, it's so smooth and you really succeeded with the highlights!!Β Β Aaaaahh it's soo prettyyyy
