jason, you're an inspiration for me too! this is an outstanding work, not surprisingly.
i really don't have much to add, aside from having my eyes popped out when i see this lol. great job, you really did it! i love the attention to tiny details like the stubbles, freckles, and the fabric texture. wasn't all that a pain in the a**? lol.
whatever i could suggest to you, i'm sure you would've been able to do it if you've had spent more time on it.
for example, the forehead looks too smooth, like it's lacking in details compared to the rest of his face, and the ears as well. however, absolutely commend the effort on the pair of eyes, and how you've created a sunken look for it. the hair looks great too, not only could u notice the volume, but also the direction of it.
another point is that, you should brighten up your drawing. i presume it should look brighter irl. the whites in the photo looks grayish. Highlights and reflection of fluids on the lips, eyes, and cheekbones are less pronounced because of this. i can see you've rendered a sparkle on the eyes, just that it's been lost in the photo capture. could always amend that through photoshop aye? then perhaps your portrait could really jump out more. that's about all i've to say.
and have a great new year! i know you'll rock it. stay strong and passionate pal. all the best to you
