Of course!

Depending on the size of the conventions, the amount of people attending can vary. For instance, if you go to a well known convention such as Comic Con or Anime Expo, you will find a lot of cosplayers and it can get pretty hectic with the amount of people going. If you go to a small local convention in your town, it tends to be more relaxed and you can talk to a lot of the artists in the Artist Alley.

Usually the convention will post the master schedule of all the events that will be happening, so it really depends which panels, autograph signing, and workshops you want to go. 

There are a lot different activities that happen during a convention, for instance there a lot of cosplay workshops, panels with guests or panels being run by fans, games, and possibly live shows. It all depends on the convention!
