Actually, I did my first attempt a couple of days ago, it went surprisingly well, I'm confident enough to start submitting stuff. I still don't have the hang on all the extremal complex technology of the Irken race, but I'll manage once I get the feel for it.

Hehe, a valid point, he could just cut it off, though one part of the theory is that Edd's mother cut it like that and he's scared of upsetting her by fixing it himself or by other means. In any case, it's just a really fun concept to play with and a fun hair style to draw, for me anyhow.
Hmm, now that I think of it, he could shave his head bald and make the hair into a wig... but a bald Double Dee isn't as interesting, lol XD

Lol, I'd never do that XD What fun would a bald double dee be? Most of the time I use the hat, because it adds to much to his expressions, like a puppy dog ear.
Oh, he's a huge ma'ma's boy, in fact, it reflects in his relationship towards all authority figures. He respects teachers and all adults, projecting his desire to please his parents through others in higher power (he even seems to have respect for religious figures, as even his logical mind seems open to the idea of a benevolent force, if only as a human instinct)
Perhaps that's one reason he bends to the will of Eddy so easily? Eddy is a bit of an authority figure, even if he's a kid, and even if Edd doesn't respect his mind, he respects his power over the group.
The more obvious reason is Ed and Eddy give him a sense of adventure, as he dreams about being a great explorer when he grows up.
(we always want to be what we never can I think, as Edd is obviously held back from his dream with his O.C.D., but that would explain why he loves nature so much, regardless of his hatred of dirt)
