My Ludwig is a coffee addict (he is Austrian, after all... or German... either way, they like their coffee, and Beethoven himself was even a coffee freak). And he likes junk food of course, mostly GOURMET, especially chocolates like Milka... although he's not quite as snotty as his Austrian relatives (who would DIE if they saw him drinking coffee from Shellbucks)

I've depicted Ludwig differently from story to story, but what stays consistent is his mood swings, superiority and gruffness.
We like our candy in Norway too, so Ludwig's preferences are um, relatable. That's not even a word, is it? Norway's own confectionery brand Freia makes the best candy in the world, at least in my opinion. It's a mixed blessing as one should always try new things, but when it comes to foreign brands like Hershey, Cadbury and Nestle - they're not the same; they taste artificial, have the wrong texture, rub against the tongue etc. I think it's universally European to take food and drink very seriously, so the coffee thing applies to me as well. I had a Moccha Latte from Starbucks once, and I died a little on the inside. No offense.

I agree about Hershey's and the like, I much prefer European chocolates to American ones. I've never had Freia, or seen it in any of the import goods shops here, though I've seen quite a few interesting marvels such as Katzenzungen (CHOCOLATE CAT TONGUES! How cracky! And kittens on the packages, I think it's adorable, but it would immediately turn most Americans off, assuming they don't mistake it for pet food, they won't want to eat it while associating it with pets on the package!)
I liked Starbucks a lot at first, since I was so used to coffee that comes from a gas station cappuccino dispenser (Starbucks at least grinds the beans freshly) but ever since I started going to other coffee places, Starbucks tastes really strong and bitter to me. Their tea is excellent though, they use whole leaf bags that taste strong.
From what I hear Norwegians (Scandinavians in general actually) are the biggest coffee drinkers in the world. My grandmother's parents were Norwegian immigrants, and she liked to drink a lot of coffee too I think... as for I, well, I am VERRRRY caffeine sensitive, one shot of espresso will keep me buzzing all day, and it probably says something about my genetic predisposition to drug addiction (I never touch illicit drugs though, I don't even drink alcohol, and I am wary of cold/headache medication) that I like to get high on coffee like some sort of meth head x3
Just like my Ludwig (but most preferably imported Vienna roast)

Not to mention science (I'm a physics major, although I have yet to have been to a college with a worthwhile physics program...) And chocolate... anywhere that speaks German has the best chocolate (don't know what the language has to do with anything though). I especially love the white Milka, which they just started selling at the 99 cents store for a dollar each, which is a shocker because they usually cost 2-3 dollars, and are normally found only at import stores or at Walmart.
Although I was born and raised in the US and have never been to another country (except for Mexico but that doesn't count when you live right next door to it), I feel that, in many ways, I'm a European at heart. I have wanted to go there badly ever since the sixth grade. My grandmother went to Norway once and sent back some Smurfs candies, which I hear are very common there. And, hearing that the universities are free over there, and community "colleges" are unheard of, I could just KICK my ancestors for moving out!
Lately I've been craving sushi (the more raw fish and less rice the better, although I love the sticky rice consistency I feel sick if I eat too many carbohydrates, oh and I love seaweed too, and shrimp, and even eel, and of course wasabi and soy sauce) and frozen yogurt (the tart variety, not the sickly sweet kind, lately I've been liking less sugar in my food and drink, I've been avoiding the junkier toppings and putting mostly fresh fruits on it). I feel healthy when I drink a lot of tea, it makes me feel cleansed and energetic but not bipolar and HIIIIGH like when I drink a lot of coffee, although I do like being "high" some of the time, but I've been cutting back on coffee. I also eat a lot of ice cream, but that's not as bad as cake or cookies on the glycemic index (maybe it has something to do with knowing my dad's diabetic, he eats almost nothing but junk and drinks too much beer, but lately I've been feeling like I should eat fewer simple carbs, I have less appetite for pasta, though I like it very much, and almost no appetite for bread. I will eat a sweet pastry every once in a while, but I never eat sandwiches anymore, and when I do I much prefer bread with all kinds of interesting grains in it).
And I also love CHEESE. NOT American cheese, which I cannot even tolerate unless it's melted on a burger or grilled cheese sandwich, both of which I seldom eat again thanks to the bread, but imported, strong tasting cheese, like creamy blues, pungent parmesan-ish types, etc. They have cheese shops where I live that allow you to freely sample all kinds of cheeses
I used to like nuts, but that must be a symptom of semi-starvation (my foster parent used hunger to control me and my sister) because I have very little appetite for them now. Actually, I have little appetite for vegetable proteins period. I like meat, mainly fish, especially raw fish, but every once in a while beef or chicken is good, they have great Mexican food here in San Diego, and I do like spices.
I never drink alcohol PERIOD. It has caused my mother a lot of trouble, her being addicted and all, and me as well, it being the reason I was taken away...
I do have a weakness for chips, however. Particularly cheesy chips like Doritos and Cheetos that are loaded with MSG (which was originally extracted from seaweed, which explains why I like seaweed so much despite my general aversion to vegetables, I also dislike oranges, when it comes to fruits it's mostly berries I like, and bananas, and smoothies) and also honey, I like trying all kinds of honeys. At the World Market I picked up some creamy savory Bavarian honey :3
