Description The first in my new series of prehistoric battles, PaleoBattles
---------------------
In the tepid seas of Ordovician North America, a life is on the life. A small, wormlike creature darts back and forth between coral-like structures. This creature is known today as Sacambaspis, a very primitive fish. Sacambaspis and the rest of it's kind, the Agnathans, are whom we have to thank for our existence. The Agnathans were the first spined creatures, and gave rise to you and me. Why is this oddity fleeing? What from would be a better question. A massive silhouette emerges from the water behind the frightened creature. It is as long as a bus, and is called Cameroceras. It is king of the sea, and kills what it likes. Back and forth the primitive fish swims, frightened for its life. The monster behind it attempts to keep pace. Massive arm-like tentacles whip the water around Sacambaspis. A huge, sharp beak prepares to slice into some delicious sushi. The killer comes closer, and closer. Suddenly, a school of fellow primtive fish bump into the fleeing Sacambaspis, hindered by their own terrible vision. The fish is disoriented by the crash, as are the other fish. CHOMP! The Cameroceras slices its mouthparts upon all the confused fish. In the Ordovician, the cephalopods rule. But the vertebrates will have their day. Someday. Someday....
