If you have an upholstery business near where you live, an affordable backdrop can be obtained by simply ordering several feet of fabric.  If there are no upholstery shops, you could also go with king sized bedsheets.  Either way, you get a background of uniform colour and depth, for a more "studio" feel to your work - and all you need to mount it are a few thumb tacks.
Of course, after I wrote all that, I noticed that this pic is from 9 years ago - so you've probably got backdrops handled by now.  -_^

As it goes if you have a issue about hanging them (non-destructive) your window and existing curtain rod will do wonders!

In reply to the original photo, its lovely! I think the lack of a solid defined backround adds something charming to the whole feel of the photo, Something along the lines that though the imperfection, its more real, more powerful in a way. (But thats just me)
