That feeling of wanting to make something and nothing working is so hard. For me, I think it's like... pushing on a wall where there should be a door - but you can't find the door and just keep pushing on the wall!
You found the door with this piece - I hope the dry spell is ending for you.

Yup, it is so frustrating and I wonder how mood affects this. Every thing I worked on I did not like and this piece too I was not sure of. I think how I feel about myself really plays into how I see the work I do. Working on art really helps fill the time and without it I'm lost. I like your visual of the wall, that pretty much says it all. I even stop looking at art when going through dry spells.
