this is pg 12 of the very first ever WitchBlade annual ...out now...oh yeah!!

im not sure why im posting this, its of an unknown character.... most ppl seem to really enjoy my female artwork A LOT more than anything else i do...a fan once said on a forum "that i didnt know it was eBas cause there was no tits and ass hanging out", this came from a woman.. now does this bother me? no, everybody is a crit and to be in the so called "public eye" u need to have thick skin....

before i even started drawing or rendering any of this...i had to put emotion into it...this is a shot of our bad guy....and he's swimming in his own ego...like most bad guys who are full of themselves seem to always smile and laugh a lot..thinking they've won already..so i gave him that kinda vibe..but at the same time, bad assness..i also like the super hero look of the square jaw and perfect features...

i am pretty happy with this one considering i did it in a day..foreshortening like this is very difficult and is not recommended unless u know ur shit...i on the other hand...do NOT know my shit...well, not my male shit..(does that sound weird to anyone else?? ) but i had a specific image in mind and was gonna try my damndest to make it work...

the reason foreshortening is so hard to do is cause more often then not, there is no real life reference for the shot u want.. there is a very right way of doing it wrong...so u have to go based on ur knowledge alone...the worst part is that it takes someone only seconds to tell u its all wrong...they wont know why...but they will know its wrong..and they will prob be right about it too

it seems easy to critique anothers incorrect foreshortening but its much harder than it looks...the key thing to not loose focus on is, with each passing "plane"..it gets shorter and shorter...here in this drawing...the first plane would be his head..the next plane is his shoulders and chest...again, getting shorter as each plane passes...i found that the first two or three planes dont really shrink much...then gets smaller really fast as the planes gets further away from the camera...if u look here his head is only slightly bigger than his shoulders and chest...

we have multiple factors to deal with here...foreshortening, ripped muscles, veins, rendering and extreme lighting...whew...seems simple at a glance since u have one figure and all that white space behind him...which i later filled

i personally dont like drawing anything this big...cause u are drawing with ur elbow and not ur wrist anymore....and all the lines have to be thicker and longer..like the lines on his right (our right) shoulder... rendering alone is a bare...in some spots i have five sets of lines all inter-crossing...and the hard part about that is NOT loosing the shape/cypher/contour of the area u are rendering....and not making them look like scars or scratches ...

since theres a strong light source coming from his chest, it didnt allow me to put any black in that area...this is what u call triple light source.. i personally dont like to have things perfectly symmetrical on pieces like this that are evenly weighed:arms, legs...etc.. so i put heavier lighting on his right (our right) side and much lighter rendering on his left...i feel it keeps things more organic and less stiff..

im my yrs of drawing render lines or "cross hatching", has showed me that drawing one set of longer lines is good for the foundation of that set...and the purpose of throwing another set of lines is an indication of either a change in surface...meaning, changing a flat surface into a curved one...or B: making a darker grey...both accomplishing the same goal pretty much...

all the energy lines in the back all have a vanishing point...they all have a purpose...not just random

the sash that is his belt and the electricity are both the eye candy here...a buncha shit going all over the place to help with the eyegasm's...it is hard to remember to hold back though...there is such a thing as too much...

u may not think so, but drawing "locked" wrist and finger joints makes for a intense feel...i personally think anyone of power does this...like wolverine or superman...always with the locked wrist

hey im curious...can a male drawing look sexy?? i hear all the time that my female drawings are...and in some cases even turned some ppl on....so any of u girls or gay guys out there think this is at all sexy pls do say so?? if not, how so?
