"Eat your veggies or you won't grow big and strong enough to grab the ducks' lunches!" Heeeee. Well, geese and gulls are the worst for those, but I've definitely seen swans bullying food from people and smaller birds...

People feed birds all the year round, and swans get a good share. Sadly, it's bread they get & that's bad for them, and for birds in general.

I try to give out corn to the wild duck and goose flocks by my house, but when I've got old hard bread and no use for it? May as well have a bit of fun with it. The seagulls usually get half of it anyway.

Just don't feed it to cygnets.

There's no cygnets around here, so that's certainly no problem. I noticed over the years that the ducklings and goslings around here tend to just spit out bread when they get it until they're much older (I would watch them taste it and then drop it back into the water while Mom/Dad were gobbling it up) too. It's nesting season right now, actually, since a few weeks ago there's dozens of little fluffbutts on the riverbanks with their overprotective parents, so I can't even get close enough to feed any birds until the little cuties are big enough to properly swim over to me. For now it's just a lot of AWWWWWWs from as close as they'll let me get.
