Description AKA Hades and Persephone.
My second entry for the coloring page book challenge at
Also from Hercules and also inspired by ancient Roman paintings from the days of the emperors.
The original image is from here: www.coloring-book.info/colorin…
And the roman painting I was inspired by was this one:  www.metmuseum.org/toah/works-o…

I made Hades (roman Pluto) less intimidating and slightly more human, the Megara from the coloring page became Persephone (roman Proserpina). There was a Persephone who had a tiny cameo in the Hercules movie, but I didn't want to use her.
She is still bright and chirpy and colorful, but in the underworld as Pluto's wife. Her myth is the explanation of the changing of seasons.
I did this one in Manga Studio 5, and used the textured watercolors to make all of it., so it would look like rugged and aged wall from some rich Roman villa.

The original coloring book image from the site was too small for me to work on, so I resized it larger.

Thank you very much. I think I should have taken more time with it, but I'm busy during daytime and tired at nightfall. I doubt I'd win anything, but I do love to participate in these contests.

I think you did a fantastic job with it. I doubt I'll win either, but it is always fun to enter and with a lot of contests I do enter, I end up drawing or colouring something that I probably wouldn't have done otherwise.

Thanks.
You're right I like the contests here because they push you to do new things and I like that. Is one of the things I miss from college and work to exceed what's already done.

Wow! I like this one even more than your other Hercules pic <333 I love how you made the atmosphere look more sumptuous and regal with the brighter colours, yet you can still tell it's the Underworld from Hades's chair and the River Styx flowing through the background.

It was a very clever idea to give Hades a more human look yet still sticking to his defining features! He's got some very nice abs And, of course, turning Meg into Persephone was a very creative touch! She looks very distinct from Meg in both her appearance and attitude-- she's very proud to be queen of the underworld!

Great work!

Thank you so much!
Yes I wanted it to look a little bit like the underworld, as if his palace has an open wall near the Styx.
I should have colored Megara (Proserpina) in different less bright tones, but because she's the spring and summer I thought she's look better in more flowery colors.

Wonderful change! You did so well with the new characters, style and location. Venis, vidis, vicis, the emperors would have been proud of you.

Thank you.
Yeah I didn't like the original too much, had to show them in the underworld without being too creepy looking while still keeping in mind the Roman fresco that inspired me.

Wow that is quite the change. I would never have guessed that she was based on Meg.
I like how you played more with colours on this one and how much you changed it fro the base.
It's a fun picture and one is interesting in knowing more about them
