The colored artwork based on Illogical-Lynx's [link]Umm... I am apologize that I was far too off to post my Elite art, that because I have tons of things snapping my brain and haven't made out any.
Only I colored his ink drawing... with several try of colorings. The tail part is pain in my arse, and I still cannot satisfy the quality like that.
And that because he is very amazing critic and ink-pen artist, so I decide to give him a appreciation. And hope Sevvy89 and Dachindae also accept that kind of coloring.

Great colors, especially with a dark backround behind the 'Leets.

The dark/black background is for a shading and coloring procedure, according many illustrators' comments, using black background to color is easier to manage the lever of dark/light scale and making the contrastive better, than the plain or light color background.
So to say, that is how I does.

As for my art, my backrounds were quite bright. I mean, it usually reflects the "color" of my characters. Even in dark stories, it would still be bright because the my characters.

Well, if you refer to traditional arts. That was almost a "rule" to color.
In digital way of coloring, you could use almost every ways to make the style you like.

It's quite beautiful, the colours aren't too much, they're perfectly muted.
I'm not sure about tails and spines though .. but that's a whole 'nother story, isn't it?

Well, I am sure the coloring just did satisfied for a mere try rather than a life-spending style of art. (AKA test only)
And Sangheili still not yet confirmed if they do have a tail or something. But that also giving me another reason I could color it in my own way... which I wasn't make out the best one yet. I think I can make the coloring better next time.

I can't buy one of my own for a long time, I've got so many veterinarian bills to pay off now, they probably set me back half a year or so, budgetwise.

Yes.
If you really can't afford any, you may try to use traditional mediums for finding the best way of coloring instead get a new tablet. I know it works in different way, but still work if you like making color jobs.
And yea, I have talked with my friend before, will soon get something to become an art.

Yes, we'll see what I can do. It's not just the colouring, it's the entire process from pencil to finished thing.

Wow, I have to say you surprised me with this! The colours have gone on really nicely, even with my pen shading over most of the surfaces.
The tail came out really nicely actually, the shading on the edge of each scale really give a good texture and it looks like there are many colours all together. Shading that you would understand how frustrating that tail was for me to draw too!
The highlights on eye and the glowing armour lights look great, although the one thing I might suggest to improve perhaps, would be the sword. I feel as though it could be a lot brighter, although I didn't really show that with my linework either. The sword in the games is quite white in the middle. It is good that there is light from the swords reflecting on the armour though.
Anyhow, I really like this, you've done an excellent job and it was well worth the waiting!

I knew you believed me. That's why I pay a lot of attention thinking and coloring the tail part. Well... since Sangheili fans still suspecting if they do have tails or not... but I think I did my own way better than make a judgement, which is possible cause other Halo fans angry about...
And the highlight part, I think I colored it base on the color management is in sRGB, but my monitor is in AdobeRGB mode. False color contrast making the lighting looks odd if making too light... so I only make it like a glow-stick instead like a flashing blade... I realized I did a mistake on the color managing part. I may think about if I should fix it. Oh... and the armor reflection, I also afraid if I color it like chrome instead a high-quality stealth metal. So I did it a little bit, just not thinking about the lighting part, so uh...
Still, you have favorite this colored job based on your art, I am really appreciated. Just I think I should be more active on the further time.

At first I had used the chrome tan as shading color, but after I color it up, the color of yellow and blue looks... weird.
So I duplicate the shading layer and anti-toned it. Making the shading stands out without ruin the color.

Yes, I tend to have problems with layers myself.
I normally like to stick with multiply, or Normal. I fear tampering with the setting to much.You really made the colours stand out despite your choice of dark colours.
Keep on practicing! the more the practice the better you get.

If that layer setting could grant the color you want, go for it. There's also a method call Overlay, very good for making shady color.

it's a figure of speach ...sooooo i supose it could be used for both.
example: you make a picture others say it's amazign and awesome but you yourself
can only pick it apart and see all the flaws it has and how your could have done better.

I should thanks to Illogical again, he have his way make a line shading with a pen. So I can fully understand how to shade it with color.
