PHEW.I don't know HOW many times I screwed this one up...but it was depressing. Be it the keffiyeh (scarf thing), the cigar/hand, or the background...

Dwy. I'm like wow. You always seem to put something spectacular into your pieces and there is always something that really pops out. How one EARTH did you get the smoke to look so cool,, and wispy and flowy. I'm envious. I love how youu're so able to capture expressions. you make it look effortless. You sure do set the bar high.

As for the smoke...it took a little while. :B That reference helped out LOADS, but I really just started with the lightest gray for the most dense parts of smoke, and faded it out from there, adding the other wisps and such. I've gotten pretty good at using references effectively, thank goodness.
His expression's so...well, he's so stonefaced. ;.; It was hard.

Oh god, the scarfthing (because I'm not cultured), the way you coloured it seriously just kicks ass. And I love how you actually shade your portraits so they have an obvious light source, that's something I fail at doing. If you can pull off dramatic lighting in a remappable portrait, then you are obviously a god, and if it were physically possible I would have your babies.

Teehee, I had no clue what a keffiyeh was until he called me on making it look like a bandana... xD Thanks so much!! I was so proud of that dumb pattern, no matter how frustrating it was.
Dramatic lighting is VERY hard to pull off in remapping ports, lemme tell ya. Oh yeesh, the stupid remaps just kept making it look really FLAT, and I had to use pure black in the hair to make it look like it had dimension. 
btw I'd totally have your babies too.

I've been trying to experiment more with lighting lately, since ports have been boring me for a while. Finally figured out what I hadn't done yet. xD
I mostly tried to make his eyes POP, since I think they're supposed to be bright green...He said he wanted them to be "vivid," so hopefully this got that across. Also part of why I included Cruncher's colors, haha!

Cheating doesn't matter, as long as you own up to it - and it wasn't too badly cheating.
The lighting is just brilliant, if it turns out like this then I want more experimenting!

I don't like cheating at all, but for this I just had to. ;.; I'm definitely experimenting more and more with lighting, since that's...the final frontier of sorts, for me! Not much more I can learn otherwise.
