Description
someone asked me to do a drawing as a birthday present for her granddaughter. i did a chibi and normal version of her. and drew characters from her favorite series. how much do you think this is worth? (still don't know how much to charge ppl)took me 2 1/2 days to complete with copics, copic brush pen, and .5 sakura micron pen

First of all... great artwork! I love the clean lines and the solid look of the characters.
And secondly, I thought I would give my insight on pricing artwork, since I earn most of my money at conventions doing commissions. As well as my experience freelancing in the architectural/graphic design fields.
It really boils down to two things...
1) Who and what are you doing the commission for? I usually offer discounts to family and friends, as well as people who referred other clients to me. Since in your case it's a grandma requesting a gift for her granddaughter, I'd probably cut her a break too.
And
2) How long with that commission take you to do? If you calculate the number of hours you put into the drawing and you are getting paid less than $1 an hour... does that make sense?
As an artist starting out, you really have to be careful about selling yourself short, especially on colored pieces.
But I've also done a lot of free work as well, I say price your work at least at LEAST $3 per hour, since that's still way below minimum wage! Regardless of how "new" of an artist you are... if someone wants to buy your art, you better believe that you're worth it, so make it's worth your time. Unless, like I said, you are doing it as a favor to the person.

It depends on how generous you feel like charging to a person but it could be around $15-20
The colors in this pic are so perfectly placed giving it a smooth touch and i find it really awesome in how much you detail it~!

Mmmm... I would say about $15-$20 depending on difficulty and how long it took. :3 plus you have to factor in how much the price of copic ink is now and what not. but yeah xD i would pay about $18 for it :3

tell you the truth the older people though that $15 was too cheap and that it should be minimum $20. one of my mom's patient actually said $75 since it took that long. the patient is a graphic artist and charges by the hour. @.@

yeah i notice that too >< like my mom told me to sell my art for a lot more like $20 and up and i was like holy wtf >.> no one is gonna buy my stuff if it is that high!
and yeah idk i asked this guy i talk to on gaia and he said i should sell my stuff for about $15-$25...
but yeah idk. I think since yours is copic i would sell it for like $18 - $20

i think it depends between adults and teens. cuz adults would most likely have the money. the one who commissioned me thought $20 was still too cheap
