Description Nothing like fanart art to make for a picture that can be turned out in an evening. This is me using other people's creations to shake up an art block.

I think jay is one of the coolest characters out of that series. Nice job.

You did an AMAZING job at caputring the style of the show. I have such a hard time getting fanart of this series done T.T

Thank you! I love to find fans of the show who haven't seen an episode... I highly encourage you too, but then we all know I'm biased ;D

Hooooo.

Geez, yours turned out better (and on-model) than what I just drew. Good thing I haven't shaded it out yet.

But it's a good thing I found a GOOD rendition of Jay here at DA (the only good one so far...no kidding!)

There's actually some very good renditions of Jay floating about DA. And you can't put your abilities down, you just have to keep practising!
If you're looking for more Jay art try browsing the gallery at ~ClassoftheTitans or at ~Class-of-the-Titans . I don't know if anyone has tried to favourite all the CotT fanart available yet and archive it that way. If I do come across that I'll be sure to share it with others.

Thanks for the advice.

Since I managed to get hold of the CTT model sheets, I may be able to do just that.

Wow, great job! Love the perspective. How on earth do you get such crisp lines?

The pen tool in Photoshop is your best friend for lineart. As is working at a ridiculously large pixels-per-inch resolution to finish the picture. I usually work at 400pixels per inch and then shrink it to 150pixels per inch to make the image I upload to DevArt. That way I don't lose too much of the image's sharpness.

[link] and [link] are some awesome starter tutorials for making clean lineart and cell style shading.

I really admire what you can do in an evening. My lineart sometimes takes up to a week to finish. Was there reference for this image other than the character is from CotT? It's great perspective work.

Yeah, I took a picture of myself using a little digital camera I have about for such purposes. Took me a couple of tries to get it right. I found the pose while browsing an online photo gallery but the clothing on the model made seeing the foreshortened body difficult. After I get the base general body shape down it's just a matter of sketching the character specifics overtop.

I love the perspective on this one. You WIN at foreshortening.

And I also need to thank you for the account on Devart! Wow! You're always so good to me!

(I ought to post more art...ghehe.)

You're welcome. More art from you would be wonderful! I just get the subscriptions because I hate browsing my inbox without thumbnails

I really like the perspective on this one -- definitely pretty difficult to pull-off without looking weirdly out of proportion, but I did get a good sense of looking up here. It's a really fitting perspective for Jay too, I think, as is the facial expression.

If it weren't for a reference photo I could never pull off perspectives like this one. I just can't seem to bend the body the right way in my mind alone so my cheap little digital camera becomes my best friend when I need a reference.
