Dunn95 — A Golden Lit Sea (Sold)

Description Oil on Canvas, 12 x 12 inches. It's the sun setting out at sea. It was mostly a practice with something I wanted to try with the sky. It was inspired by Monet and Turner and I wanted to try something similar, with how the light seems to reflect and break up the sky as it shines it's last shine of the day. I think it turned out rather well and I'm looking forward to meshing it with some other ideas I have in mind.

This is absolutely stunning! I will break this down into sections.

Sky/Sun: The fiery-like texture of the blazing sun is brilliant. The blend of warm colours with the hint of cool background is very nice, and the hints of red add more texture. The layering of the oil paints was very effective.

Water: The sun's reflection on the water was captured perfectly. It spreads nicely, brighter in the middle and dulling as it goes.

Certainly an eye catcher, and very beautiful! I thought this deserved a critique, and I'm pleased to have written one for ya. This is inspiring, and makes me want to have another go at one I tried to paint a few years ago!

Thank you very much for taking some time to write a critique for me! I appreciate it greatly. Helps me know what to focus on, good or bad, when doing future stuff similar to this. Anyway, thank you! And I'd hope you do take another try at it and I would like to see how it turns out

That's amazing! I was on a mission trip this past week and we stayed in an abandoned school and they had amazing paintings like this in one of the classroom's. LOVE IT!
