Description Alaska is a country of wide rivers, birch trees and small, thin arctic fir trees. Driving along Highway 6 you find amazing picture book landscapes around every corner. This is just one of them.

Alaska ist ein Land der weiten Flüsse, Birken und seltsam schmalen Nadelbäumen. Bei meiner Fahrt auf dem Highway 6 begegnete an jeder Ecke eine neue atemberaubende Landschaft. Dies ist nur eine davon.

Hi there! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="25" height="20" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="437" title="Hi!"/> Before I get to it I just want to mention briefly that this will be a critique by an admirer of art since I am purely a writer first, and foremost.

Straight away I really enjoyed the detail centred around the flow of the river as it meanders through the logs. The colour scheme here evokes for me a sense of tranquillity and momentum.

The variant greens used for the surrounding firs and embankments work harmoniously with the more sombre tones of the river and the sky. Leaving as well the surrounding areas blank evokes a sense of this being a snapshot, which emphasises the beauty of this Alaskan scene.

Die Bäume sind vielleicht so schlank, weil es in dieser Gegend immer stark windet und sie sich evolutionsmäßig angepaßt haben.

Das denke ich auch. In dem kalten Klima sind die Wälder nicht so dicht wie bei uns und die Nadelbäume haben nicht die klassische Dreiecksform, die wir gewohnt sind.

Reflection in the water is always faced towards the viewer, use that to your advantage in the future. (In other words, upside down 180 degrees, not in a angle)
