Description I've just been wanting to do some more colored pencil work. I need to buy some better Colored pencils, the set I have are the ones that were given to me as a high school graduation present by my art teacher...so old. But yeah every time I see the price of a small set of prisma-colors, I get freaked out by how damn expensive they have become.

Dude, I own HUNDREDS of Prisma-Colors, and I'm broke as a joke... so, you've got no excuse to own a bunch!
I'd recommend you go to an actual art store like Micheal's or Hobby Lobby to get them. That way you can buy individual colors.
When you buy a set, chances are you are only gonna to use some of them... might as well get the ones you NEED!
The run about $2 a piece... not bad considering what you can do with them. They are definitely my favorite pencil.

Yeah I saw your set you bought on FB! LOL

I don't know why I feel like $2 is too much for a pencil. I think it's because I buy a tube of watercolor and that last for-fucking-ever. LOL Well not that long but years. Course I still have these pencils from so long ago. I think it's cause I think "well If I use them then I'll have to buy more" so then I don't use them.

But yeah I think I'll go with the buying them individually approach and see how that works out.

Well, if you never use them then, yeah... they'll last forever! Dork!

I suppose a pencil won't last too long, especially since they're soft lead pencils and go down pretty fast when filling in large areas.
That's why I would just recommend my approach to rectify any issues of wasting them, by just planning shit out more carefully in advance.
Plus, they don't erase very easily once applied heavily to an area. It just takes a bit of preparation is all. In all honestly, to date,
I don't think I've ever messed up on a color-pencil piece. Well, except on one occasion where I accidentally spilled a soda on a drawing...
but, I worked it into the background and made it look like smoke! As artists, we have to work with our mistakes and make them seem
intentional, right?

I guess buying supplies comes with the territory, and pretty much falls in to the category of "it takes money, to make money"!

Do eeeeet!

Yeah it's the paper that gives it that effect. I like it, but I want to find some paper that doesn't have quite as much going on in terms of that.
