This is a beautiful piece of work.
I like the colors and textures you've used in the stock to give that Victorian cluttered feeling to the piece. It adds to the rich ornate feel of your field.
The allegory you've created with the picture in the background works with the isolation of the figure. Herheart is caged with dragons all around. Even if it could escape its cage the water below makes survival unlikely.
Your model's expression is contemplative. She is isolated on the sofa. The table holds the only means for escape from her metaphorical cage, but she not reaching for the books. This works extremely well. I find myself wondering if the love story is that she's a mistress waiting on her 'protector' to appear.
Technically there are few things to tighten up.
Your book's shadow is off. You have two different lighting sources: the single candlestick and up and off to the side is the one unseen that illuminates your figure. Also there should be a highlight of some sort on the top of the books
There should be a little light hitting the couch. You did very well on the shadow for the table on the sofa.
Is it possible to illuminate the hands a little too? I don't know just how much you can alter stock for your own purposes. I don't do the Photo manipulation thing. I just admire it when it's good and say: Wow. I am saying that emphatically here.

I realize that this sounds nitpicky.
