Description
There's a lot I can say about this, and I'll toss the technical at the bottom. I will say this though, I had a lot of fun stretching to make this, and learned a lot working on it. The more I worked on the rocks and grasses, the more I felt inspired by one of my favorite climbing areas in Eastern Washington (Horse Thief Butte.) The notion of Elves moving through the high grasses and among the cliffs just tickled me.

Created in Daz Studio, rendered in LuxRender via Reality 2.5
Total poly count ~ 650,000! There are more than 30 *groups* of grass blades in this scene, each placed by hand.
Render time approaches 24 hours, there are 2 composite renders here, the sword was rendered under lights with different positioning to more clearly highlight the material of the sword.
Final quality: 1 kS/p
The sky was hand painted in Photoshop, however, an IBL Sphere with similar tones was used to render the scene. I just felt that the clouds in the IBL looked too flat, and that I could paint better..... so I did.
