Description According to my notes, this was my 22nd render test from Reality 4... At some point, I may have courage to post the first one.  Obviously working with metallic shaders for this, generally, very happy with how it turned out. If I had it to go back to, I'd love to figure out a way to do some nice chrome globs coming out of the needle stabbing into her leg to give a better sense of the story telling but.... test renders don't always reload well.

Single mesh light... honestly, I'm getting kind of addicted to the story telling potential of a single light

Thank you I don't know that I have too much talent for it, I still have a ton to learn from the likes of elianeck.deviantart.com/

I just can't get over that there is only one light in the scene, the reflections are amazing.

I think, in general, that most of the materials in this scene have a polish of at least 9000, with the chrome on her being around 9700. It lets one light go a long way with plenty of bounces, but you still get the story telling of very strong distinct shadows.

Very nice render.

When you say you wanted to add chrome globs do you mean you wanted some runs, like blood running down her leg but given a metal setting ?

DS-Penguin In reply to john-reilly [2014-12-03 02:40:54 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. I wanted to get to that feeling that the metal bits weren't just things she was wearing but more becoming a part of her. I did one draft where I also added a set of chrome wing bones, but I didn't like the result it was giving so I took them out.

The power of physically accurate lighting is my single most favorite aspect of  Lux.  The ability to express so much with a single light source is phenomenal.

Excellent work.

Thank you Lux is addictive... now that I've been working with it for a while, I don't know how I did without.

I know I'm in the Reality "render" section, but had to look twice to see if it actually was a render.. Dang, now that is photo realistic as good as it gets.. Very impressive!

You're welcome. I've dabbled with Reality (just installed R4)  but can't seem to get anywhere with it.. Viewing great renders such as yours inspires me to keep at it..  Some day, I'll figure it out

It takes some time, that's for sure. I was working with Reality 2.5 for over a year before I started with R4, and even then, R4 was a bit of a learning curve. If you're not already there, the official forums at Runtime DNA for Reality are pretty awesome.

Happy rendering

Many thanks, I'll check it out.. I did my first R4 rendering last night and wow, ok nothing anywhere near where you're at with it but nice, and a lot quicker than I thought..
