Description
Yet even in the loneliness of the canyon I knew there were others like me who had brothers they did not understand but wanted to help. We are probably those referred to as “our brothers' keepers,” possessed of one of the oldest and possibly one of the most futile and certainly one of the most haunting of instincts. It will not let us go.
One of the last books I read last year was A River Runs Through It. A friend lent it to me because, as my sisters say, I've been reading the "pretentious ones". (In other words, the ones the critics like).
Anyway, this is a classic written by Norman Maclean, who was over 70 years old when he wrote it! It was even nominated for a Pulitzer. If you ever think you're too old to write something, just think of ol' Norman.
This one is a semi-autobiographical story about the author and his relationship with his troubled brother, Paul.
Definitely recommended for anyone who has a sibling who they love but they just can't seem to get through to. ;-;
I based the portrait here off Norman Maclean's real brother, and did minimal color for dramatic purposes. Hehehe.

oh goodness, this is so well drawn. the fishhook says so much just from its color and the placement directly threatening paul's eye...

this is truly an intriguing Book Read piece!!! and an interestign book, too, it seems.... I've only seen the movie as a teenager with my school, and I saw it once or twice on TV since... I thought it was quite good, but I dunno if the book is much different or not... About your drawing, I really love the design and the composition!!
