Love the energy here.
I mean, the literal energy/magic radiating in the background, for one. lol I always love how you use lots of little marks to build up textures and give everything a nice, organic and natural feel. I like how the high energy of all of the little marks there and the muted colors contrast with the bold, more solid color of the energy coming off their fingers.
I like the pose a lot, how they crouch with the knee and leg poking out from under the cloak/shawl. I like that outfit, too -- the loosely drapes cloak with the fun pattern, then the more tightly fitting pants underneath to contrast. The big, bulky cloak gives a sense of mystery to the character, and the tight pants/tights, along with the crouching pose, make me think they're also nimble and would be running around in situation as they quickly jump from casting one spell to the next.
I've not been very active on da in a long time, and...that seems to be the case for a lot of people. I hope you're still active drawing! Do you have another place that you post more actively at? Even if I don't comment as actively as I used to, please know that I am a big fan of your artwork!

Oooh, I'll follow you there! I have had a tumblr for a while but I haven't done anything with it. I still don't really get tumblr, though I browse it a bit more because a lot of people have moved their art postings there. I have another tumblr that I use as a portfolio site for job hunting, but I haven't done much with my personal one.

As for my own inactivity.. I finished school and started working so there's not much time left for myself (which I want to work on in the future, I haven't done almost any pictures this years that weren't work related). But I do draw, no worries

I know what you mean about not having time to do personal art. I've been working as a graphic designer, which I find saps a lot of time and energy from doing my own art, which is disappointing because the design job involves very little drawing, and very little creativity at all, really. It's mostly tweaking things, or tracing children's sketches, or arguing and trying to translate the vague and unclear instructions we get from the sales department. @__@
Do you mind if I ask what kind of things you draw for work? No pressure if you don't want to; I understand you can't always talk about work stuff, or if you just don't feel comfortable or don't want to. : )
