Thank you for the comment! The sculpt was a commission from me to another artist, and the model is very versatile!

Love the water caustics! I kind of feel like you should be able to see it on the background as well, though I need to do a hell of a lot more study into how light goes through water as I currently don't have a lot of underwater scenes planned XD (or any at all XP).  Is there flipper pats going on? That's too cute either way XD

Caustics in DAZ has been, unnecessarily, a royal pain in the... well, you know A trick that works up close, for some reason, does not like translating to the large scale. Using a spotlight and a plane with a bump map to create caustics, means I'd have to have a bunch of them all over the place to get the same effect. However, I was also avoiding doing this not because of memory or time consumption, but because the caustics will fade in the water anyway, with distance, and only be visible on things close to the surface. It would be clear and fine on close objects, swell and become blurry as you get deeper, but pretty quickly disappear (depending on how clear or not the water is... pool water can easily create caustics 20 feet down but probably not northern ocean water)

I've faked caustics before, it does take the better part of forever doesn't it XD Though the last underwater scene I did was conveniently angled as such so the background was just blue, bit of a copout but as I said I haven't had a chance to look deeply into how light goes through water XD The fading does make sense, and I can't always tell how deep your whales are.

Freckles!

The reflection of the water on their skin looks really good. Does that happen automatically if you place them in a setting like this, or do you have to put it on the orcas by hand? Sorry, I've never touched 3D software so I'm a huge noob.

We have to manually do it most of the time. IT's an effect of the 'physical water' in Vue, but in DAZ we have to do some other tricks to get caustics to show. It is not on the orca, no.
