Texting during social gatherings is really annoying. But for some reason the texters always seem oblivious to this fact. I know I've been guilty of it once or twice, but since I realized how rude it was, I have made a conscious effort to stop doing it. Especially if someone's in the middle of saying something. Seriously. Text messages can wait a few minutes. If it were really an emergency, your friend would call you.Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go check my e-mail.

I had a lot of fun putting this piece together. This is one of the first times in a long time that I've penciled a strip traditionally and inked digitally. Thankfully, I'm getting a bit of a better handle of how the different brushes and tools work in Manga Studio 5. Altogether, a much shallower learning curve than MS4. Which can only be a good thing.

My husband will talk to me while Im in the middle of it knowing full well that I was already engaged in the text before he spoke. I just look at him like, give me a second I can't hear you and write! XD

Used to happen to me all the time with my friends, I didn't get my phone until grade 11 ish grade 12 ish and everyone had a phone then, if you didn't it was strange XDD So I would just sit there awkwardly aha

Honestly, I can completely understand this. I didn't get a cell phone until I was in college, and it felt awkward. It's a strange culture that's grown up around them, for sure.

And its the new Samsung Galaxy S4, the 5 though comes out soon, but whatever, this was what I could afford, and phones are expensive D: But its the first time I had something new XD

Isn't it crazy? I've got a Galaxy S2 right now, and it still works pretty well. I just remember seeing the touchscreen and thinking it was something out of a sci-fi movie.

Ugggh, I know this feeling all too well...although, nowadays I admit I'm guilty of it occasionally. If I'm texting, I at least wait until there's a lull in the conversation or the story has stopped.
Still, this is beyond relate-able

Yeah. Well, it is one thing if nobody's talking when you pull out your phone. I actually think that is how it started. People would pull out their phones during a lull in the conversation, and text. But it later became a habit and they start doing it during conversations as well.
I think the lesson to take home is that we simply need to be tactful. If we're out with a friend, let's not text. It's like when you get a call. It's polite to step outside to take it.

I totally agree. I don't see why it's so hard for some people to just put aside the phone for a few minutes (especially while driving, that bothers me the most).
I love the facial expressions in this, and how he finished his drink and then just got up and left in the last panel. XD

Yeah. Although the story is told in six panels, you can definitely imagine how this might simply be something that occurs a couple of times during a normal conversation. And the texting while driving... I've almost been hit by cars many times. And almost every time the person was texting while driving.

Ugh, that's exactly what bugs me about it. It's so dangerous. I know someone who was recently in an accident because he was texting while driving. Luckily, no one was hurt, but he has some huge repair bills to pay off now. :/

I'm glad to hear that your friend wasn't hurt and nobody else either. Hopefully they'll just pass a law or something that lets police ticket people who are texting while driving. I've found texters look a lot like drunk drivers when you're behind them. Their cars tend to wander all over the road.

Yeah, me, too. I'm not totally sure, but I think in my state you can get a ticket for texting and driving (and I know you can for talking on the phone and driving)...still doesn't seem to stop people from doing it though. ;_;
