I like the way the rocks converge toward each other as they recede and i am guessing this is a feature of the lens but it really makes the whole landscape very grand..

Although the wide angle lens does this, this is how it looks in the flesh too.

yes I thought it must be shaped that way too, but the wide angle really gives that depth to the image..

I would definitely go back to this spot. Looks promising for good skies. I like the fact that water was excluded from this shot. Seems like if it had been, it would look like a shot by Patrick Smith. I like the different take, most would want water, but here, I can actually enjoy the rock formations for what they are, instead of having water as a conflicting focal point.

I was looking at it again, I don't know if it is possible, but if you could get a puddle down in the bottom of those rocks to reflect the sky, it would remind me of this photo...[link]

"new rock formations" ??

DrewHopper In reply to JakeSpain [2009-07-31 13:58:02 +0000 UTC]
Well those rocks never use to be exposed, always use to be under the sand and over time the ocean has washed out the sand. Probably should have wrote that cause they aren't actual NEW formations.

That rock formation is wicked. Personally I'd think of cropping about 1/2 the sky off. Feels much stronger when I scroll it like that. Does the water ever wash over this?? cool beans!

The later sounds safer, though I'd imagine with this spot you'd have to watch the tide carefully and be prepared to run away. Great location...

How can there be NEW rock formations?
π: 0 β©: 2
DrewHopper In reply to dave-chaulk [2009-07-31 08:53:44 +0000 UTC]
Well the water has washed away the sand and exposed new rock formations.
