Hey folks!This is a gift for a really good friend of mine for his birthday. It's a little late, but he knows I'm busy and realistically I shouldn't have worked on this now anyway with all of the stuff I have on my plate. But anyhow...
Miranda Lawson is a character from the stunning "Mass Effect 2." An operative for a human-interests group called Cerberus, Miranda is genetically altered to have the upper hand in all situations, thus she is incredibly smart and beautiful, amongst other things. But if you dig through the dialog, you'll find she's just as human as you and I.
I added the orange filter over the image to make it feel more in line with the tone of the game, which has an orange color theme in its user interface (in stark contrast to the first game's less-threatening blue, as there is a very perilous tone and atmosphere to the sequel that the orange conveys perfectly). I tried my best to get a likeness of the character, and by association, the actress that plays her. Hope it is successful!

You definitely should. It's one of those rare cases where the second game is infinitely better than the first, and the first is pretty incredible in its own right.

The first game is an Xbox360 exclusive. The second one is for Xbox and PS3.

They're going to have some sort of way to fill in the blanks for PS3 owners unable to play through the first game. I say the best way to experience it all, of course, is to play the first game, but alas...it's a Microsoft exclusive. Thankfully, you'll get to play the second one if you choose, and it's a damn-fine game! My personal pick for best of 2010.

Thanks so much! Her expression here is a little uncharacteristic (she rarely smiles, and it's even rarer that it's a genuine smile), but it was the best for the likeness. I'm glad you like it, regardless!

Oh hey, I just started replaying Mass Effect too. I think my favorite thing is that you captured her pouty lips perfectly. I honestly didn't care too much for her, personality-wise, but she's starting to grow on me.

I find female players don't like Miranda, but I think that's because most female players play as female Shepards (nothing wrong with that) and don't have the goal of getting to sleep with her, haha.

It might also be because she comes off as an ice queen, Mary Sue type throughout most of the game. Her attitude and demeanor were irritating in the beginning, but she does redeem herself in the end. I could just be speaking for myself though. I can't say I really hate her. Strangely enough, I really like Jack. I would've definitely gotten with her if she was a romance option for females.
Sorry for rambling, I could go on forever about this, haha. Anyway, love the picture. You should definitely consider drawing more characters. An Asari would look great in your style!

I dunno...it's hard to call Miranda a Mary-Sue since by her very nature, she was created to sort of be unapologetically just that. Being an actual Mary-Sue seems more like an unintentional thing...I guess...I dunno...
I thought Jack was a romance option for female characters. Let's see...you can get with Garrus, you can get with Jacob, and...who else can you romance as a female Shepard?
(Hot steamy romance with Legion sounds sexy!)

That's true. I had forgotten she was "manufactured" to be like that. Still, I believe it's her overall attitude that just bugs chick players.
Thane is the other one for females. My character ended up with him, haha.

Yeah, you're right, I do like Jack, she's my second favorite character but that's not the point.
What I don't like is how Miri acted during their fight in her cabin. Her arguments to be precise.
It sounds to me that she is saying things just for the sake of pissing Jack off, instead of admitting that the experiments were wrong and cooling the whole situation down.
It becomes even more obvious after her conversation with Shep, where she actually admits that what the facility did was unacceptable. So in the end we get an emotionally unstable woman and a woman who adds fuel to the fire.
Maybe it's just the poor work of writers, but I felt like this even on my first playthrough when I didn't know a bit about Miranda and Jack. After endless replays I feel it even more))

Well, you're absolutely right. But I wouldn't consider it bad writing (that game contains no bad writing, actually). In fact, I'd say it's the opposite.
The fact that Miranda is inconsistent on this matter just shows the player that she's human despite being engineered to be "perfect." Her emotions are conflicting because real people's emotions are conflicting. If you were drumming up a romance with someone and found out they were also messing around on the side, you'd be prompted to say some irrational things as well.
Also, take into account that Jack and Miranda are radically different personalities. They were never really destined to get along anyway. ;D
