Wow...this so amazing. When I first saw this I though,- How lucky this artist was to be able to get close enough to Willie Nelson to take such a beautiful photograph- Then, after reading the description, I realized it was a drawling. So awesome!

More like, "exceeds the standard and emotes the character."
A fine work and wonderous craftsmanship.
As a member of your 'audience,' I am glad you spent so much time.

Wonderfully done. I don't suppose that you'll share your method for achieving the black background? I've not had success.

dreerose In reply to Guillermo-da-Lucca [2013-07-03 22:49:06 +0000 UTC]

Sure! Well I love my Mars Lumograph 7 & 8Bs - they have a high clay content & are awesome for any blacks - but when doing large areas they dont really blend well. So I used a solvent (well actually baby oil because I had no solvent - but I will use solvent when I get some!) & tissue to blend instead - & it worked REALLY well

I have had some success with charcoal & carbon pencil as well - but its much messier & you cant get as precise lines when you are close to your actual subject. Because the lumographs dont really blend - you cant smudge then onto the whites

whoa.
that is fantastic!
just watched 'my idiot brother' again recently.
if you've seen it (and if you haven't, you should!), then you know willie nelson songs pop up
now and again.
one of my favorites was his cover of the allman brother's 'midnight rider'.
classic.

this incredible render is also classic!
well done!!
