I don't really get the idea of this shot. Lacks composition, looks very snapshotty except for the fact that snapshots usually have an interesting subject.

Well, let's see...how about the majesty of the peaks of Glacier National Park or the wild beauty of the Middle Fork of the Flathead River as it flows out of the park. The whole point of a landscape photo is for us to be able to enjoy the scenery as if we were standing there. (btw, snapshots are a different category of art here at DA, so you shouldn't use them as a way to try to offend people). This is the type of photograph that you would find on the cover of Montana Outdoors Magazine, which is noted for beautiful landscapes like this.
In case you haven't noticed, many of us have print accounts because that is our main purpose for being here. We didn't ask for critiques on our work and don't particularly want to know what you think of it. You will make enemies very quickly here if you continue to give unsolicited criticism. Most artists here get violently angry at the type of comments you have been making.
What is your experience in photography? Most people are going to want to visit your gallery to see your work, so make sure that you have a good sized sampling of the best of your photos posted. That way, they can take or reject your advice, depending on the quality of your work.
If you really want to give critiques, it is important that you go about it in the proper way. First of all, look for the "The Artist has requested Critique on this Artwork" box below the artist's comments. Then, make sure you have a paid subscription. Only people with paid subscriptions are allowed to post critiques. They do this so that only professional artists will be posting them. After you have upgraded your account, press the "Write a Critique" button and you are on your way. Please take the time to write a thoughtful analysis of the art, since that is what the artist is seeking. Criticism without positive feedback is worthless and doesn't help the artist or anyone else who sees it. I highly recommend the article, Spicy Tips for Critiques and Your Own Works , by FaMz , one of the moderators here. I think this should be required reading at DA.
After you have finished posting your critique, there will be a poll that appears so that others, including the artist you've evaluated, can judge whether or not they think your critique was fair.
Good luck!

Well, the sole reason I post art is to recieve critique, so in that case I guess this site isn't for me.

Yes, it is a very beautiful place.
My family, on a regular basis, goes out where this was taken. It's a rather popular place. A lot of people enjoy rafting there. And then of course there are plenty of fishermen. There are also areas for camping.
And the rock beds on the shores of the river are full of and assortment of brightly colored stones that have been tilled and mixed by the flowing of the glaciers that once existed there.
