Description Our skulls are now offered in two types of shimmer; brush in, and mix in. For the brush in we actually hand paint the shimmer powder on the inside of the mold, and then cast the resin into it. It comes out super shiny and pretty, however over time the shimmer could rub off or if you run into something, be scraped off. (you should always seal your skulls after staining them, btw!)

However with the mix-in, we're actually mixing the shimmer right into the resin so you don't have to worry about it coming off, which makes them cheaper since we don't have to take all the extra time to paint it in. The downside to this, is that the skulls come out looking more dull to begin with, AND there's a chance you could see some microbubbling in the resin. Nothing super horrible, especially if you stain your skull, but it's something we figure we'd warn you about.

Picture shows the difference between the two types. Unfortunately it doesn't capture everything perfectly, but you can see that one does look more dull than the other.

will there be a 'both' opinion? like can we order the mix in but still have it painted?

I'd need to ask; I don't think they use the same resin for each option
