Well my dearest seester  is on her flight home, so I figured it might be a good time to post the photos of the dragon sculpture I worked on while she was visiting for 9 glorious, adventure-filled days. I call this sculpture "Friendship," and that is a little kingfisher on the dragoness's outstretched paw/hand.  I'm really pleased with how it turned out considering how (relatively) quick a project she was! Trying to get her to balance on one paw was quite the challenge! I'm eager for Cindy to post photos of her burrocorn as well!

This sculpture was made with an aluminum armature, Fixit Sculpt, Air Dry Clay, Swarovski crystals, acrylic paint, Pearl Ex pigments, and various varnishes.

I hope you enjoy my graceful little dragoness! I'm considering listing her for sale to help with some medical bills as well. We shall see! For WIP photos of this and other projects, please keep an eye on my Twitter!

Nice balance ! It looks so... "aerial" !

I'm doting on all those little details of the dragon- the muscle system, the little toe beans, and all the delicate hair/spindles that flow in the graceful pose. Your hands are worth their weight in gold!

This sculpture is incredible! The figure looks like it is moving fluidly about its display space. The individual scaly "strands" wildly whisked back are an awesome touch. How did you manage to obtain fine details in air dry clay without it deteriorating? My experience with air dry clay has been poor to say the least.

Fantastic work!

Thanks for the compliments!  I think the only "trick" as it were that I found for this was to let the clay start to harden just a little (by waiting a few minutes) before working with it. That allowed it to have a firmer feel rather than being too putty-like. I hope that helps!

Came out really nicely Love how you can see the muscles on the dragon's legs as it's leaping.  Had to squint a bit to see the bird but it's cute and I love their complementary colours

Thank you!  Yeah, the bird is a bit small and I regret not showing a bit more of a close up, but I promise he's there.

I'm glad you like seeing the muscles and such! I put a lot of work into trying to make them look believable.

Your ongoing support really means the world to me. I'm so glad you enjoyed the progress shots and the final piece. I really had a lot of fun with this one, especially since I completed it so relatively quickly for me!
