Description I decided I need to brush up on my pencil skills, so I made a drawing of three African Masks. (Source - Sidagh Gallery)
All of them are from around the turn of the century.
I was pretty pleased with the way they turned out, I guess. Not all of the masks were perfectly symmetrical, which made them interesting to draw.

Wow...your pencil skills are great. The shadows and highlights accentuate every curve. ^^ I'm still in high school, so I'm learning how to do this sort of thing in art class. My mom has some Costa Rican masks hanging in our house...they're beautiful like these, and are very colorful. (Maybe I'll attempt to draw them now...) I typically fav colorful things, but congratulations, yours is the first pencil work going into my Favorites.

OMG!!! Thanks so much for the fave on this one! I've been meaning to return to pencil sketches again and improve my skills. My sister (who's 13 years younger than I am and will be a senior in high school next year) is a MUCH better pencil artist than I am. I envy her skill!
Let's both keep practicing!
And thanks very much for the fave!!

*hugs moniter* Mnn, Milky like. I do apologize for not commenting sooner, but I hadn't seen this in my box until just now. Grr.

I think they’re simply great, the dimensions and shading are spot on and make them look almost... real. Very good work, Mistress of the pencil. I swear I've seen the mask on the far right somewhere though. For some reason the St. Louis Art Museum keeps popping into mind. Every time I'm out there I spend HOURS in there looking at the art. Last time they had this amazing tribal oriented exhibit, they had tons of simply gorgeous masks like these. But I swear, I've see the right one.
