This is the fourth side out four of of my re-done Wind Waker scroll pumpkin carving! The whole thing, from tracing to gutting to final touches and clean-up, took me 6+ hours (hey, I had to go to the bathroom and eat sometime…XD).It is mostly shaved, with carved bits for the Castle Town windows, and Link’s tunic and sword. Unlike my smaller Wind Waker scroll, I shaved Link’s face this time instead of carving it because I haven’t mastered the Leviosa spell to make his eye and eyebrow float without support. In contrast to Link’s bright tunic, I made Ganon (or rather, the shadowy threat of him, since it’s really just meant to represent his return) nearly all rind because he is the evil guy.

You can do this with a simple knife right? just aslong as you make the walls thinner for the light to penetrate?

My pumpkin is fantastic? I looked at all of yours and my jaw dropped haha
The pumpkin I used was about twenty pounds before gutting and carving. The design itself is a little over two feet long (a little less than three sheets of computer paper long).
Anyway, your pumpkins are so much better than mine by far! I'm really amazed (and jealous! haha) by your shaving skills. I'm still working on varying depths to obtain different colors in the shaving, and it's hard for me to get a smooth surface. What tool(s) do you use?

Daaang that's a huge carving. Bigger then the crazy big Hogwarts carving I did last year. I can see why it took so long
My go to tool for shading is this dremel drill here: [link] But I think there's an updated model by now. It tends to eat batteries but it works really great for me. I also have a thing that's like a strong, square-shaped clay loop that came with an old kit that's good for when I'm too lazy to pull out the dremel.
I'm gonna try my best to make a good shading tutorial this year!
