Description
Silver Sparkle was born the second daughter of Black hope and Gold Sparkle, two of Equestria's most renown diplomats. She was born in the Zebra kingdom while her parents were on assignment there. Before she even reached her first birthday, Silver and her older sister were the targets of multiple kidnapping attempsts by a faction of individuals against the alliance between the Zebra's and Equestria. Uncomfortable with the danger their daughters had been in, Black and Gold decided that for future assignments they would leave their children in the care of Gold's brother's family, Night Light and Twilight Velvet.

Silver spent much of her early childhood playing with and looking up to her two older cousins, Twilight Sparkle and Shining Armor. Twilight was her best friend and Silver wanted to do everything she could to impress her cousin, and despite being weak at magic, Silver would try to show off for Twilight every chance she got. So when Twilight was sent away to Ponyville, and even decided to remain there, little Silver felt betrayed. She never blamed Twilight. Instead she held a grudge against Celestia for sending her cousin away.

In time, Silver's parents were given what would be a long term assignment, and at the suggestion of Celestia and Luna, chose to send Silver to live with her cousin in Ponyville for the duration. Silver was ecstatic. She was looking forward to all the fun things she wanted to do with her cousin, but when she arrived, she found Twilight much more mature and strict than she remembered. Twilight had rules for everything, and Silver clashed with ever single one of them. The first battle she won against her cousin was attending school. Silver had been home schooled all her life, and so when Twilight tried to send her to school, Silver adamantly refused. This was about the only argument over the rules she managed to win against Twilight.

The biggest rule Silver despised was that the Everfree forest was strictly off limits. Silver was intrigued by the wild and uncontrolled forest, and found every opportunity she could to sneek off to play there. She was caught by her cousin nearly every time, and was assigned chores helping out one of Twilight's friends. Silver actually enjoyed most of these chores, though she would never admit that to Twilight. Her favorite was when she would have to help Fluttershy with her animals, both because Fluttershy was the nicest of all Twilight's friends, but also because it was close to the forest, and if she was careful she could slip off after helping to play in the forest.

It was on one such escapade that she discovered Night Eye. She was facinated, and quickly determined to make him her friend. After much pestering and detemination, he opened up and started to become her friend. Of course that was when Twilight discovered them. Once Twilight was somehow convinced not to tell anyone about Night Eye, The two became even more close, with Night Eye visiting her in town using a disguise. He was even there when she recieved her cutie mark on a campout with the cutie mark crusaders and Rainbow and Applejack, but I'll save that story for another time.

The two of them had quite a few adventures, and made more friends over the years growing up. Silver loved living with her cousin, despite it being far longer than her parents had initially said it would be. She didn't worry. They wrote her every month. Or at least Silver thought they did. Tragedy struck when Twilight received a letter from Celestia saying that Silver's Parents, who had been missing for nearly ten years, were being held captive by the nation they had been sent to establish relations with. Twilight confessed to silver that she had been forging the letters from her parents for those years. Furious and scared, Silver stormed out, and began a lone journey to rescue her parents without telling anyone. She was on this journey, when Equestria came under attack from a power greater than the Alicorn sister's could counter, and would return after freeing her parents to find a broken and baren Equestria.

Silver has been one of my favorite character I've ever written. She readily shared her stories with me. Honestly, she has given me more stories than I could possibly ever write about her. In addition, It's been thanks to her and her friends that I have been able to overcome some pretty dark times in my own life. I've always been of the school of thought that stories can and should uplift us and give us strength. Even being the one writing them, the stories that Silver initiated in me in the world of Equestria have had that effect in my life. I hope that the ones I have and will share through my characters will be able to help others as well.
