Description Since last year I had wanted to work on a kind of comparative diagram of the posthuman species that are described in the book "The Last and the First Man" written by Olaf Stapledon, an impressive very old book which exposes the descendants of humanity in the next 2 billion years, it inspired me a bit to try to portray these beings since there was no any kind of art done of them at the me... until the arrival of vanga-vangog who has done a magnificent job portraying several of these with a great art.

For a while I wanted to modify some of the characteristics of these posthumans, make them much more rare or derivative, however the laziness and take care of other works did not leave me much to do so I leave this work forgotten, I even have one extra part of this diagram still in a WIP in which I tried to put the subsequent descendants of the nineth men who in the book colonize a habitable Neptune.

Thank you.

I'm still thinking on doing them alongside the other alien species of the book.

In terms of psychology, culture and society, the fouth men were mostly emotionless and almost inmortal beings and due to the use artificial means to keep their brains alive they lacked any sense of basic needs except curiosity and constructiveness for their great intelligence which made them data seekers, they reduced their creators and precursors to simple servants and remained as the sovereigns of the earth for few thousands of years into some sort of knowledge gathering civilization.

The Fifth men were pretty much reinvention of the human form in its original aspect returning to an organism with functional body, however with enormous improvements including stronger bones, more specialized digestive systems for digestion and provide enough energy for a large brain, with long but finite lives, with low procreation rates, with all the basic emotions of the human mind, eventually these would overcome their creators as the brains tried to submit them, taking over the planet, high intelligent as any other human civilization they created their own globalized society and which would prosper until the destruction of earth

The fourth men seems to be extremely depressive, similiar to ethereals from xcom series, immense power potential but an entirely decaying - dying species.

Fifth man're way understandable! [Highly] Improved simplicity at all of its glory, as nature/evolution(*lemme insert here an ancient aliens joke) at its best

Thanks a lot for the information

whats the 4th men about

Dragonthunders In reply to yxungdean [2019-07-17 00:58:40 +0000 UTC]

Giant imortal brains that lives suspended in a jar-like chamber connected and surrounded by a big factory with machinery and tools that covers their vital functions and needs (basically cyborgs but giants), they were created by the third men as an attempt to make a better humanity, at the end making these emotionless information gathering beings that don't die, feel hunger or the need to reproduce, the 4th men would eventually overthrow their creators by taking over social functions and turning those into a type of faithful servants.
