Shell Backs are the only known Dragon race that is defined by colors.

• Ruby Red – (Ruby Tail) Most are abrasive, confident, and fastest of all Dragons, even their own race.

• Emerald Green – (Emerald Tail) Knowledgeable, sly, and have been known to trick creatures out of their possessions.

• Sapphire Blue – (Sapphire Tail) Free spirited, uneasily troubled by world affairs. Most live in Cloud Kingdom.

• Amber Yellow – (Amber Tail) Fearful, paranoid, and bipolar.

It is extremely rare to find a Shell back in another color. If possible, it is due to breeding.

Shell Backs are widely known for their speed and grace. Among the Shell Backs, the Ruby Tails are the fastest. Shell Backs compete in a race that is held only once every 100 years. They race around the world for weeks to have the honor of being the fastest on the planet. A Ruby Tail has won every race except for three in the last thousand years.

Studying the skeletal structure of these dragons has revealed they have hollow bones.
