Description Trying to get more practice with digital painting, 'cause I sure as heck need it Don't really know where this came from, I just started to do a random blue painting for a friend on gaia, and I ended up with a swan dragon. Photoshop, 2 hours-ish, constructive criticism is highly welcome. ^_^

you don't need practice, I need practice

But everyone needs practice! Otherwise the artwork would never evolve. One of the most fascinating things about art to me is watching how it grows and changes over time

I think that some times the dragon blends in a little to much to the background, but otherwise, I think that this is a very beautiful picture and gives the lookers a very nice peaceful feeling. I love it. ^^

This is a lovely pic first of all. It's very creative and has great tonal balance. I would prefer it, though, if the feet below the water were not as defined as the are now. I think that will add to the sense of transluscience I get with the dragon.

This is quite lovely, it's almost a crime to try to pick it apart with advanced criticism. Technically, as the dragon is translucent (otherwise it would be dark like the trees in the shadow of the moonlight) the membrane of the wings should be brighter than the bony structure of the wings... However, it's much more asthetically pleasing the way it is. Nicely done, and !

That's interesting, never thought of that, thanks! ^_^ But what happens if it's highly bioluminescent -and- translucent?

Heh, Jellyfish have it too, and some kinds of squid and a type of bacteria (or very small fish?) that live in the ocean. And fireflies ^_^ I've haven't seen a dragon with it yet, though. Maybe this one lives in an underground cavern of some sort, and just came out for a moonlight swim? Or maybe deep underwater, I bet those wings could double as fins.

Hmmm... that's a good question. I hadn't even considered bioluminescense (usually in nature, this only occurs in the deepest canyons of the great oceans so far down that light cannot penetrate... Hmmm... the closest thing I could think of similar to bioluminescense would be those glow sticks we give our kids when they go trick or treating... I'll have to check one of those out, hehe... (or watch the Discovery Channel till they get to coverning deep sea creatures!

Now, this is just so beautiful. The colors and everything match very well to the theme of the picture. One word: Creative. as you had said, of course. I'm going to this since, you did a wonderful job on this piece ...
