I've never heard of a betta, but I think I meant it to be a fantail

Wow, they're great! But, no, I don't think I meant to do them, as the body would be a bit too big for the fins, I think it was just a strangely coloured fantail XP

ive got bettas a bit on the mind im playing with the idea of either keeping a betta
or fantail goldfish

im ping ponging between bettas and fancy goldfish
bettas cause i never had them and they look great but im reading articles which all give a different opinion
while with gold fish i know what ill be getting in to

I suppose the only thing with tropical fish is that you need lots of expensive equipment to keep them in the right environment, I would go with fancy goldfish because they're more hardy

from what i read about the betta in numerous articles is that they dont need any specialised equiptment at al
just that they jump and that their water should be warmish ( 22C )
most articles contradict each other on other fish in the tank
and if a heater lamp and filter are absoutley neccasary or not
some say yes better for the fish other say no the betta orginally is found in shallow dirty pools of water
maybe i wil go with the fancy goldfish at leats i know what i get with them

Ahh, really, usually fish like that need loads of special stuff, lol, now I've just got a couple of danios!
It's funny how we get paranoid about keeping things specially, when they just used to live in a pond!
I do have a soft spot for goldfish, things like that, I've always wanted koi in my pond...

bettas apparantly dont they do need to be kept seperate though
the males wil fight each other to the death and they are also known to turn on the females
first ill be getting a tank though and then we will see what kind of fish ill put in there

Ahh, that's a shame, as it usually the males who are prettier in most fish :/ Yeah, it's probably a good idea to get a tank first lol, even they can be pretty expensive :/

i was misinformed about my tank its a 55 liter one with heating element
so i switched to tropical fish immediatly
and now im going for a betta neon tetra guppies and others
