Description I've been drawing a lot of Princess Aki, my Moon Goddess, but I haven't drawn much of Shokudai, my Eclipse Demon. In fact I've never shown him in his "true form" So I'm going to show you now, after years and years. (All honesty, this isn't his full true form, he is bound in a "lesser form" so to speak.)

Below is a little story about Shokudai, and this picture.
Note: I will color this later, but anyone is free to color this if they wish.

Shokudai is the most powerful being in existence, his power rivals that of all the Gods combined. The Heavens feared him so because if he ever desired, he could destroy everything in existence. His power was terrible because it was drawn from both the sources of light and shadow.

There was only one who did not fear him, the goddess Princess Aki. She had every reason to fear him, his power was far greater than hers, he held an unsurpassed hatred for the heavens, and he cared not for anything that stood in his way.

No one is sure how she had done it, some believe that it was because her source of power also sprang from shadow and light, others thought it her unsurpassed kindness and love, and many thought it her beauty. Whatever it was, she had somehow tamed the greatest of all demons, the lord of the grate eclipse. He had bound himself in a lesser form, to bottle up his own powers.

It had been learned later, that the grate demon had fallen in love with the Princess, and that she too, had fallen for him. New fear had been brought onto the gods, if they were to consummate their love, they would bring about an abomination to all creation, one possibly far stronger than its father.

The Gods set out to destroy Shokudai, his lesser form made him more vulnerable to destruction. But in an attempt to destroy him, Princess Aki was slain instead. Enraged by her death, Shokudai began to break all the seals binding him. In a desperate attempt to stop him, the gods set their own seals to return him to his weaker form. They were only successful in stopping Shokudai from returning to his true form mid way.

Now Shokudai is held in the highest of prisons in heaven, bound with spell and chain, with only a specter of Aki to keep him company. He waits the day when his love will be reborn in the cycle of reincarnation, and reunite with her.

Thank you, I've been trying to put this story together for years, this is one of the key points in it.

As for the scales, I simply placed a very light grid over his body in pencil, and then followed up with shaping the scales over the grid a little darker, and then finished by inking it. The extra bold lines are to help you tell body parts apart.

This would make one hell of a manga,i love the story that goes along with the art,not just the anatomy and picture itself but the scaling working. It must of took awhile just to finish the scaling but it came out very intresting especially with concept of something so power yet something so small that could be destroyed and yet that very small potential is what controls the larger force through an unknown reason.

Reincarnation, indeed it would make a very intresting comic. The scales as said is neat and awesome very clean.

Thank you very much.

These scales wern't so hard, all I did was follow a grid pattern I made along his body when I inked him out.

I've been very much at work with the story line for years, it actually took me quite a while to work out why she dies. I really have yet to finalise anything, so any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you again, I hope it will be.

Well, one suggestion is that if you want something to end a specific way sometimes you have to review your storyline and keep thinking on it now and then.Usually something will trigger it when you let your mind wander while going about life, sometimes it's even certain types of music or a specific song, maybe a movie or an anime of the sort but it comes eventually. You have the death of something that held something so powerful and that very force was sealed awaiting reincarnation of the one he loved. You can stop at when he was sealed and start working on the reincarnation form of the story. That should pop up a few ideas of how it'll end since when he does breakout not just one guardian is going to try to stop him but everything thing that is good in the celestial world will try to put him down, there will be many casualties, many loss and wounded but everyone will try to stop him even the very creator that rule the heavens from the top,to second and command and descending.

This should give you some idea of how it'll end.

Usually most of the greatest stories take alot of time to develop since it just doesnt come out of thin air so would take a while before it can be put together piece by piece until its a whole itself.

Hope this helps and your more than welcome.

The detail in this is amazing, from the scales to the chain. I'm colouring this at the moment (will link when it's done) and I love the way you didn't make the chain uniform - it twists as it goes around him. Not many artists would have the patience to do such interesting detail.

Thank you, I'm looking forward to seeing this colored (I haven't had the time to do it myself)
Chains are a small detail to other drawings I've done, and I've grown a huge monster called patience that beats me with a stick if I start to get lazy drawing simple things like that. (I know they are not simple, but I've drawn chains plenty of times before, they've become easy now)

A sad story about the love of two different beings. However Shokudais sources of power are the same like Akis. So it's not strange for me, that both fell in love.
But I wonder, what Aki's death means for the Moon.

Well, I like Shokudai's scales the most and his feets, his head and his tail are also pretty fine.
By the way, does the specter show a sad Aki?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Dragon-Of-Sapphire In reply to AudeS [2011-06-20 20:15:47 +0000 UTC]

True, it is a sad story, and I have yet to figure out if there is going to be a happy ending or not, but I did try and make it obvious as to why they fell in love.

Well, I was thinking that after Aki's death, the first Lunar eclipse came to be, followed by a succession of lunar calamities, freak waves, storms, orbital shift. At least until the other gods sort things out. There is one thing I have in mind that Iā€™d rather not tell to anyone just yet about Aki's relation to the moon and after her death.

I'm still working on putting together Shokudai's real true form, wings included. He already dwarfs the gods, but I'm thinking of making it so that the gods become like ants to him once he's fully unbound.

Yes the specter of Aki is a sad one, though it's not Aki herself, in any way, the specter is showing Aki's emotions during her last moments of life.

Thank you, it took me time to figure out the placement of the scales on his body. I tried to make him a bit more simpler than other dragons I've drawn, because those scales were tiny, and I found later that coloring them takes too long to do.

I'm not happy with the specter of Princess Aki in his hand, I'd like to add more detail to her later.

This was drawn with a ball point gel pen, so I couldn't do grate detail on her being so small.
