This is just a quick paint. chalk and charcoal piece I did tonight. It actually looks allot better on paper.This.ll probably end up in scraps but tell me what you think.

Looks like he's been pondering for a very long time – so long that he's growing roots in the bench (that'd be neat, anyway).

Good stuff. I like the sense of movement in the piece and the way it makes it seem his pondering is done out of angst. By repeating the hand it heightens the feeling of anxiety. So while the figure appears motionless and lost in thought, the surrounding movement shows the emotion that he's feeling. I also like the bold, carved features of the figures face.

Perhaps the example they have here is not the best of his work but your colour usage reminds me a little of this. He was one of Picasso's cronies.

I think its cool and really weird. I especially like the motion there, though he's just sitting it suggests his mind is very active.

Yes, that is just what I wanted to achieve. Thank you. I haven't perfected this image yet, I must admit. I have a very strong idea of what I want to illustrate ... but what you've explained really suggests that I'm going in the right direction. I think I'll be redoing this image again soon and be putting in more fine details ... maybe use a model or something, so I can concentrate on getting better lighting. I think it mustn't be too detailed though.

great stuff, the urgency and roughness of the sketch gives it a good feeling, reminds me of that dude who sketched stuff for inflames and sepultura (forget his name) - Nice colours too

I'll check out the cover art of the Sepultura albums. Now theres a name I haven't heard in years. I use to listen to them as a teenager.

yeah - the cover for roorback.... AH the good old days, Sepultura aint what it used to be.. both Cavaleras have now left, so you cant even call it Sepultura no more.
