Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

first thing i have to say is that my OCD goes hectic over this picture, the uniformity of the pillars (or pillar and half really) is really pleasing for me; especially with the clash with the landscaping beneath it.

I do have to say as well though that although the vibrant colours in your technicolour images, your black and white pictures are by far my favourites, mainly because the impact you delivers just seems so much more... I dont know, catching, and really, pulling to me when I'm not distracted by the colours and i can focus on what the image is trying to put across, its a beautiful image as are all of yours florian and i really enjoyed looking at it.

Hey, thanks a lot for your critique. I'm particularly glad to hear that you like the contrast between the man-made industrial buildings and the small remnants of nature in front of them. It's also good to know that you like my monochrome work, because I was often in doubt when working on this series, whether the impact of an image would be better in colour or in black and white.

well you have my answer, it isnt about one being better than the other, its about the idea tht the technicolour can distract from the image idea, for example you could have a heartbreaking image but it could be misconstrued as happy if its inn light colours because ligt clours suggest a lighthearted tone/

True that. You know, I don't do portrait photography, but the meaning of this quote applies to all genres of photography: "When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in Black and white, you photograph their souls!"
