Description Will move to scraps later on...

The She-Wasp on the right is what happened to the female-Colonist of Twilight (The Rocky Tidally locked planet Orbiting Alpha Centauri B

The Original Wasp-Spider reproduces both Sexually AND Virally and attacks the XX Chromosomes (although some of the other Chromosome pairs are effected to a lesser extent)

Males have a higher resistance due to only having on X Chromosome in the sexual pair, but they are not immune either.

Twilight has been seeding Frontier with the S.Wasps (for lack of a better name) and infecting the human population in preparation of conquest.

The Scientist have developed a gene therapy to make it so that the women of Frontier do not succumb but that only takes care of the Female part of the problem. The infected males (3% of the population) would require a different therapy but there isn't time to make it before it virus (The one for females was developed back when the females of Twilight began to succumb) makes the jump to the male population through the bridge.

It came to a choice of 1 year to redevelop the Gene therapy against a fast acting virus or 3 months in a nano/viral Tank to TG those at risk of creating a Bridge.

As for the males of Twilight...I imagine they have already succumbed to the viral invasion, but the She-Wasps are using the original vector to spread it to the new planet.

Meanwhile they have tricked the United Nations into Laying an Embargo on Frontier claiming that they are mistreating their female population (when in fact they are not it is just so small that they take extra measures to protect it. The claims are probably derived by having Sex-Crime Convicts TGed)

Heh weird, I had a planet in my story around B that was either tidally locked on with an 80 degree axial tilt before they found one around B (Still unconfirmed as of yet)

I love your concepts, I would love to see you take them and make a story or comic out of them. They are brilliant.

Thank you, who knows though I have a few secret project that are not far enough along.

Secretes eh? I look forward to seeing them :3. If it's alright, I used some of your early small weapons designs for a character I was running in a campaign I was in. I like your art, designs, and stories, specifically the sci-fi ones, I couldn't help but implement some of them into a few of my characters. I hope you keep up the awesome work

Bizarre but interesting. Seems like there's a lot to the situation that the folks back at home dont understand, making the matters even more difficult with their own interference. This could cause a great deal of damage if allowed to spread indiscriminately. Extreme measures must be adapted and the infection contained. Purging may be the only option ins some cases. Human life is sacred but needs of the many outweight the needs of the few, and while the infected should be assisted and given support any study that risks a wide-spread containment is to be suspended until safety measures can be implemented.

That being said, cool idea, scary concept all things considered, and well thought out bit of lore to go with it!

Question, having to make many (if any) changes to the way things work for this planet? Or are you running with a version not directly based on that planet in the hopes they find something that either matches it, or the understanding this is not your verse (see Star Trek for this ).

DPRagan In reply to Squato [2012-10-31 12:57:00 +0000 UTC]

Which planet? Frontier, Twilight or Archipelago?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Squato In reply to DPRagan [2012-11-01 08:57:57 +0000 UTC]

Any of them, as long as they are in a system which we now know has real planets in orbit.

DPRagan In reply to Squato [2012-11-01 12:01:25 +0000 UTC]

The only real change is the loosing of the 80 degree axial tilt in favor of tidally locked and moving the planet closer to B

Huh, well that does seem like a tricky situation then.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DPRagan In reply to Levia-the-Dragon [2012-10-31 05:43:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it evolved as well originally it was because the embargo halted colony ships and the human population was in danger due to too few woman (Why would most women go to a planet in an ice age and recovering from an extinction level event when in the same system is the planet Archipelago which is a lot warmer and has more beaches than Earth.)

Levia-the-Dragon In reply to DPRagan [2012-10-31 06:59:27 +0000 UTC]

Well why would most PEOPLE go to such a place given that other option?

Alpha Centauri A

Frontier(Mars Orbital Eqv) : has a Blasted Eco-sphere but is habitable, since very little of the native flora and fauna survived (mostly in isolated pockets) Human's have been able to re-purpose it for farmland (there are recovery projects for the native stuff but very little is bounding back.) Also the biosphere is close enough to our own that we can digest the fora and fauna.

Archipelago (Earth Orbit Eqv): Lush many small and large islands (None larger than Greenland) has abundant sea life but the biology is different on a genetic level and inedible Terran plants and fauna do not do well so they import a lot and make money off of tourism and exotic elective medical surgeries.

Alpha Centauri B

Twilight (Mercury orbit Eqv): Harsh Tidally locked, scientist where surprised that it could support life at all, even in the terminator zone. Native life is minimal mostly crustaceans and insects and a few hardy cave-plants. the first population where prisoners and later a cult.

MensjeDeZeemeermin [2012-10-31 04:55:15 +0000 UTC]

Yet another of your intriguing concepts. One of these days, such a change will leave the human mind intact, since the virus just wants to reproduce, not conquer. I don't know if that's what you have in mind here.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DPRagan In reply to MensjeDeZeemeermin [2012-10-31 05:08:33 +0000 UTC]

The virus is just a method of reproduction...the original wasps are a hive-type cross between wasp and spider (although they are only hexapods discounting the wings.) roughly about the size of a fist. The virus usually infects other insects of Twilight but has jumped to humans with incomplete success (they remain more humanoid from the waist up and stuff)
