Description
Ahoy, me hearties. Batten down the hatches or ye'll walk the plank? Aaarrrggghhh !
This guy has real presence. I thought he looked a bit villainous. Hope you like him.
Yellow-Headed Blackbirds build their nests over the water in dense stands of cattails in marsh and wetland areas.
Their song is a painful, discordant, grinding noise, regarded by most birdwatchers as the worst in North America.
The oldest Yellow-headed Blackbird on record was at least 11 years, 8 months old.
It had been banded in Saskatchewan and was found in Nebraska.
