Description So, this is what I would envision to be the future equivalent of what the AK-47 is today. The D-04 is a battery powered, liquid helium cooled coil launcher that fires 4 ounce tungsten slugs at mach 3. My comparison of it to the modern Kalashnikov is that, i made this gun and statted it for potential use in a game of Promethean; The Created that takes place on the Jovian satellites of Ganymede, Europa, and Io sometime around 700 years from now. And, by the time the proposed story line takes place, the D-04 hand e-coil gun is already 250 years old.

The construction of the gun is mostly Titanium and steel, and along with the other materials (Rubber, Helium isotope H3, woven carbon fiber, niobium-titanium superconducting magnets, and copper, that it weighs approximately 14.66 pounds.

If you don't think that's heavy, try holding a 15 lb. dumbbell out at arm's length for more than a few seconds. Anyway, it wouldn't matter much as the locations in the story all have less than 1/5 of Earth's gravity.

Why? You don't want to have enough stopping power to liquefy a rhino?

Ammo tank?

Oh, you mean the tank of liquid helium? Yes, "boom", if it get's shot. But any high-pressure reservoir will explode if it get's shot.
However, that tank does not store this gun's ammunition. It has a magazine of tungsten projectiles in the handle. That tank is nothing but coolant. Those squarish rings on the barrel? Superconducting magnets, which, if they overheat, will most likely explode. Incidentally, that's why the second ring form the end has a red warning light. It hasn't cooled off enough for another shot to be safely fired.

cool! Good thinking! it should be wired so when overheated, the trigger will "Jam" or something.
