This is INCREDIBLY impressive! The linework and the shading and the... everything! You totally nailed it with this one. Your style looks great in general by the way, you really do a good job of making everything have a consistent flow throughout the whole piece and the whole thing just feels so PROFESSIONAL. I'm surprised I don't see your work in art exhibits, you're just great.

I'm alot better working in black and white other than watercolours I think, paints are just so hard to control and when it comes to just fineliner stuff, alot of the time I prefer that outcome other than shoving paint all over it XD Which you could say is a good thing because of what I want to do in the future relies on black & white mostly XDD but just omg thank you! >.<Β Β

Yeah, you're definitely set in terms of the manga project you were talking about. XD
And yeah, paint and colours in general are difficult to work with when you get used to doing black and white.
I found kind of a cool balance though, this is the style I'm going to use on the graphic novel I'm working on: unstablereactor.deviantart.comβ¦
Basically I just colour certain portions of the robots like the lights on their armour or their eyes, and then things like fire or water or gunshots, then just shade the rest in black and white with pencil.

Yeah that's a good idea!! Just use colour on the main things they're focusing on! Like if a drawing is meant to be focused on a persons eyes, in a completely back and white drawing you might not be able to notice after a while, and the same for a fully coloured piece, so having the 'surroundings' in black and white and a focus point in colour! Wow I really wanna try that now.. XD.. Just gotta find an idea to try it on, which just hard for me ; - ; XDD

Yeah, it's a fun technique to use once you get the hang of it, and sometimes doing the FOCUS in black and white and everything else in colour (like this one: unstablereactor.deviantart.com⦠) has even more impact because it stands out from the rest of the piece even more boldly. I have the exact opposite issue, I have WAY too many ideas, but at least I'll make a killing on character design and concept art commissions. I mean, I love having it as an ability, but sometimes it distracts me when I'm writing a storyline because I start thinking "HEY! We should make a train-snake robot!" and I get conflicted on what enhances a story and what makes it overly complicated.

Yeah, using the colour background and black and white as a centre of attention would work pretty well if a character is like feeling lonely or cut off from the world XD
I mean, I have ideas, I'm obsessed with designing characters too, but the trouble with that one is finding a pose to suit a character and thats the thing that annoys me, but alot of the other ideas them are joined to my story and that, and I don't want to give anything away or spoil anything so I've been holding myself back from doing them because If they end up looking awesome, I'd want to upload them, but I wouldn't aswell because of spoilers.

Yep, colour and shading can really set the tone.
The thing with poses is sometimes really over-the-top poses can seem natural for certain characters if its used right, like for an evil overlord dramatic evil laughter fits that theme, but for just the tetchy schoolgirl antagonist in a slice-of-life manga it would be out of place, not to mention overkill.
And yeah, if at all possible, keep art pertaining to plot twists in the story unposted until after the fact, unless its at a point where promoting speculation among the readers would be a good thing.

XD If I ever do a drawing just in ink or biro I end up shading it either with lines or cross-hatch XD >.<
