Description Nissan became a dominant force in Australian Touring Car racing in the ’80s with their Bluebirds and took it to the top in the ’90s with the car known as ‘Godzilla’ – the Nissan GT-R. The GT-R became the first Japanese car to win the Bathurst 1000, taking home victory in 1991 and 1992 with Jim Richards and Mark Skaife at the wheel.

Original Oil Painting.

I'm sure tempers flair at times and I suppose we have all said things we regret.  Jim vis just human after all. They do call him Gentleman Jim over in Aussie.

This is an astonishing painting, and one of only two oil paintings of the Gibson/Nissan Motorsport R32 GT-Rs I've ever seen.

This one shows the #1 GT-R of Richards/Skaife leading the #05 Sierra of Brock/Rouse at the 1990 Bathurst 1000.

The only other painting I've seen showed the 1991 cars at the Australian GP support race in Adelaide, but had inaccurate windscreen decals for each numbered car.

Don, this is a fantastic painting of arguably the best Group A Touring Car in the world, with arguably the best touring car driver from Australasia leading (Jim Richards, I personally think he was/is better than Brock).  I think a 1991 and 1992 Bathurst painting would also go well, especially considering that the GT-R won both the ATCC and Bathurst in 1991 and 1992.

If I had more than a few cents to rub together, I'd enquire about the original and/or prints.....

Great painting - thanks Don.

Do you have prints of this?  Is it at your website/store?

Have you, or are you, planning on doing any other GT-R images - of the 1991 and 1992 winning events perhaps?  Or Jim taking the 1991 Championship?  I appreciate that Kiwis remain your focus (as an Australian I think that's perfectly reasonable and commendable).

In 1992 Jim Richards told the crowd what he thought of them when said that they were a pack of a**holes.

Yes it is a Brock Sierra. This was when those Ford Sierras were dominating the Australian Touring Cars, until the Nissan GT-R came along.

I heard about that, that's why I assumed it was a Sierra in the first place
