Lame "artsy" angle, I know. I mainly did that to make it a little easier to see the insides, though. I've never made a rainbow cake before, so this was a great experiment. I am quite proud of how it turned out.

Are these seperate layers or are these poured into the same pan? The layers are so clean.

Yes they are, but I baked each layer for a few minutes, so they could solidify a bit before I put the next layer on it.

That's very clever! Though I'm not so good with foodstuffs, it may have inspired me to make a Wall cake, or something of the like...

A Wall cake could be cool! Frosting is sort of hard to draw with, but once you sort of have an idea it can go smoothly. I've been experimenting with food for a while now, so I was happy that this turned out.

Well, with each layer, you have to mix some cake batter with food coloring in a separate bowl. Then, you put the batter in the oven one at a time. It takes about 15 minutes or so with each layer, but it probably varies with size the of the pan you use. Basically, you make sure each layer is baked (maybe a little sticky still and not COMPLETELY baked, though), before you add a new layer. It's easier than I thought it would be, seeing as that was the first time I ever made a rainbow cake. lol

Yeah, the key is to just watch every layer every once in a while to make sure it's baking right. It's not a cake that you can really let do its own thing. lol
