I was thinking for a very long time about the Batman's costume about its symbology and its use, and I've re-imagine it thinking "How would I make it if I was Batman?"
Here's what I've done:

THE COAT:
This is the first thing I've changed from the original costume: I've always wondered "Isn't the cape an obstruction?" We know that Bruce Wayne choosed the bat as a symbol to strike fear, and the cape helps in this, but I think there's a practical way (and a little bit less ridiculous than a cape, for the real world). So I've designed this coat, that when opened makes the shape of bat's wing.

THE HELMET:
I've always think that a full mask (without the "mouth hole") looks better for Batman, for a bigger protection I've made an helmet,that looks a lot like the RedHood one, and maybe with a tech interface and gadget inside. C'mon Bruce, you can afford that!

THE SUIT:
It is a modern protective suit, like the ones for extreme sports, with a spine guard and "d3o" padding on articulation and other sensible point.

THE BELT:
The only thing that I've changed is the shape of the utility belt: it's a climbing belt, but it has all the traditional gadget inside.

GLOVES & BOOTS:
I've not designed gloves and boots, because they have nothing special: simple black gloves, that allows flexibility (we need a lot of dexterity for things like lockpicking) and protective boots, like motorcycle boots.
